More Mexicans Are Consuming Marijuana These Days

The Consumption Of Marijuana Is Increasing In Mexico

According to some recent studies, by juvenile centres in Mexico, the number of people who consume marijuana, is increasing all over Mexico and in at least 18 States, people prefer cannabis over tobacco.

Carmen Fernandez Caceres, who is in charge of these centres, stated that she has kept a personal and professional record, of the number of juveniles who consume cannabis and how this number has increased since 2008.  The number of people who consume marijuana in Mexico, is increasing in States located in the North and the South of the country as well, so it has nothing to do with the place that they live in.

In some Mexican States like Yucatan, which is in the South, the number of young people who consume this herb, increased in more than 25% since 2008.  The percentage of people who smoke tobacco, also decreased in this State during  these years and this proves how some people are substituting smoking one plant for another.

In the State of Veracruz, which sits along the Gulf of Mexico, the percentage of young people who consume marijuana,  also increased by 29% during 2007 to 2014 and it is very likely that this number will keep growing over the years.

The State of Morelos, had the largest growth in marijuana consumption, as the percentage reached 31%.  These are all outstanding facts and it proves how more people now prefer to consume cannabis, rather than tobacco, which can surely be more harmful for our health.

Some politicians in Mexico, are already looking to legalize and regulate marijuana for medicinal and recreational uses, so hopefully these laws will be changed soon and Mexico can join the countries that are taking the next step towards allowing people to consume cannabis.
