As you probably already know, the State of Colorado has legalized marijuana for medicinal and recreational purposes, but with its newly established marijuana laws, this State will most likely become the first to fully regulate recreational cannabis in the US and it will surely help to set a guideline for other States to follow.

Lawmakers have just accepted some new rules and standards for this herb, which will make it easier to regulate and to keep under control. The new laws include a 15% excise tax and a 10% sales tax, which are not outrageous and many are already happy with them.

The new laws also establish how much cannabis a person can buy in Colorado and how many plants a Colorado resident can grow inside their home. According to these laws, tourists will be able to buy up to a quarter of an ounce when they visit Colorado and people who live in this State, will be able to grow up to six plants in their home, without having any problems with authorities.

The Marijuana Laws In Colorado, Are Well Planned

Many people are in favor of these new measures and the State of Washington is also looking to regulate and tax marijuana with similar laws very soon. “The first marijuana should be on sale in Washington in March 2014 and Colorado will have its cannabis stores open as soon as Jan 1,” stated the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and this proves how the legalization of cannabis is really taking place in the US.

The people of Colorado will still need to cast their vote on a ballot initiative, which will take place this autumn, but many are certain that these new laws will be passed and that marijuana will be accepted for both recreational and medicinal purposes, as it was already established a few months ago.

The new marijuana laws in Colorado will also help protect minors from having free access to the herb, as they will keep it from being sold in certain places and even establish some limits for marijuana products. “Pot must be sold in child-resistant packages with labels that specify potency. Edible marijuana products will have serving-size limits,” reported The Post only a few days ago.

This will really benefit all people who need cannabis for medicinal purposes in this State and it will also help the world to realize that legalizing cannabis is much better than trying to keep it from the hands of the people.
